The Five Nights at Freddy’s movie has been in production for a number of years already and if you’re ever wondered why we’ve not seen anything of it yet, this is why.

Blum said that while production is “still active” they “haven’t quite figured it out,” but are “getting closer every day.

If you have followed the story of the Five Nights at Freddy’s lore then you would know that its depth is surprising, and this seems to be where the issue lies with the movie’s production.

Blum said on the challenges faced with tackling the series lore: “The story is the big challenge. You know, Five Nights at Freddy’s should have been easier because there are books, there’s a lot of lore and storytelling.

For a video game, I think it has more storytelling than almost any other.

Blum added: “The story goes down so many rabbit holes. It goes down so many different directions. It’s big.  Choosing which part to tell the first time out of the gate — and how to tell it — has been tricky.

In terms of lore Jason Blum is spot-on, and even with the aid of series’ creator Scott Cawthon, this is a movie that cannot be rushed. If done right it could be a really fun horror movie whether you’re a fan of the video game series or not.

This year following the closure of the Chuck E. Cheese food-chain of restaurants in the US, fans have called for the closed buildings to be turned into Five Nights at Freddy’s themed bars or perhaps even an Escape Room experience.
