Fortnite is an ever-changing and always-growing game, and with so many patches and regular updates, there’s always new bugs and glitches being discovered. They’re usually pretty harmless, but gamers have now been reporting strange and possibly paranormal (maybe) encounters in-game…
One of the most terrifying is what we’re calling the Fornite Revenge-Seeking Ghosts glitch, and it’s so spooky that we’re just waiting for the Creepypasta.
More than a few players have discovered that they can hear the footsteps of another player echoing loudly – after they’ve just killed them.
Although it’s definitely a glitch in Fortnite, this isn’t the first time a game’s seen the player get ‘punished’ – or at least recognised – for killing someone or something else in-game.
Kill an enemy in the survival horror classic, Silent Hill 2, and protagonist James Sunderland will temporarily leave a few bloody footprints behind him as he walks.
It’s a pretty dangerous glitch for the free-to-play Fortnite, as the game relies on you using all of your senses to keep yourself alive, and hearing footsteps is putting gamers on high alert as they expect an ambush when they hear the sound.
It’s okay though, it’s just a revenge-seeking ghost!
The issue was first discovered by Reddit, and it seems now Epic Games has confirmed the issue – and given us an expected time frame for the game’s exorcism, sorry, patch.
According to a Reddit comment from Epic Games, a fix has been “just put in for this issue that will be applied once the v5.20 Patch arrives.”
It’s bad news if you’re afraid of ghosts though, as the glitch is expected to stay in the game for another few days at least, with the v5.2 Content Update due next week.
