TimeSplitters studio Free Radical Design has reformed and will be working on a new game in the series, its publisher has confirmed.
For years, fans have been calling for a new TimeSplitters game, whether it’s a brand new game, a remake, or even a remaster. Fans just want more TimeSplitters!
Thankfully our pleas have been well and truly heard because TimeSplitters publisher Deep Silver has confirmed that development on a new game will soon be underway.
This news will surely be music to many fans’ ears. Gamers will also be pleased to know that the reformed studio, based in Nottingham, will be led by Steve Ellis and David Doak. The duo were two of the four founders of the original TimeSplitters series, so we’re likely to be getting a core experience.
A tweet from Deep Silver announcing the news said: “You asked and we listened. We have been working on plans to bring the TimeSplitters franchise back to life, and are pleased to let you know that we are setting up a new Deep Silver development studio to do just that.
“Free Radical Design is reforming and will be headed up by industry and TimeSplitters veterans, Steve Ellis and David Doak.
“This is an exciting first step in the process; development on a new game has not yet started and we will update you when we have more news to share.”
It is exciting that we finally have official confirmation that a new TimeSplitters game is coming, but as the statement says, development hasn’t started yet. So it’s likely that the new game will at least be two years away, in my opinion.
