The new battle royale mode for Call of Duty, entitled Warzone, is less than 24 hours old and yet a game-breaking bug has already been discovered.
All across social media, players of the recently-dropped Warzone have been airing their frustrations about what appears to be a pretty common bug. It’s exact cause is unknown, but it seems to be linked to getting a kill in the game, which can trigger a black box over the screen, limiting the player’s vision.
The box doesn’t cause the game to crash, but it does make it next to impossible to continue play. You can check out a clip of the bug in action on Reddit.
This isn’t the only time the black box of doom has popped into the game. Other players have been complaining of black screens where the game simply fails to load.
At the time of writing, neither Infinity Ward or Activision have commented on the bugs, but hopefully there’s a fix in the works. You can make the devs aware of any bugs you encounter when playing via the Reddit post below.
Warzone officially landed across consoles and PC on March 10.
On the Activision blog, the company writes: “Call of Duty: Warzone is a new free-to-play, massive combat experience from the world of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare®. And we mean massive: Warzone delivers a huge gaming experience for up to 150 players in the incredibly expansive map of Verdansk.”
Confirmed vehicles for Call of Duty: Warzone include the ATV, Tactical Rover, SUV, Cargo Truck and Helicopter. The map itself is roughly four times the size of Blackout, and will support up to 150 players per match.
Aside from the bugs, players are having a blast with the game so far, with many people claiming it to be even better than Blackout.
