It’s just been announced that the next instalment in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, is going to have a mammoth 50GB (approximately) day-one patch, and it’s left lots of fans a little less than pleased…
UK retailer GAME, who usually celebrates COD releases with a midnight launch, has announced it’s going to be selling the game from 6pm the day before its release – so gamers have a chance to install the patch. Lol.
Taking to Twitter to confirm the news, GAME Meadowhall wrote: “URGENT NEWS! You can pick up your copy of #CallOfDuty #BlackOps4 from Thursday 6pm – 9pm.
“Don’t worry if you haven’t preordered! you can still pick up a copy & pre install the game and be ready to play it at midnight. WE WILL NOT! Repeat, NOT DOING A MIDNIGHT LAUNCH.”

According to reports from Kotaku, GAME isn’t the only UK retailer to be offering up the game before release, as dispatch notices from Amazon UK also state the title will be shipping on Thursday instead of Friday.
The UK isn’t the only place offering an earlier release to get the 50GB patch downloaded, as retailers in Africa are doing the same. There’s yet to be confirmation from any US retailers as of yet though…

Oh. Allowing gamestop to release Black Ops 4 early so people can download the day 1 patch before launch is actually super smart. God damn I was getting salty as hell.
