Gamers are petitioning Ubisoft to create a remastered version of 2008’s Far Cry 2. The title received mixed reception when it first launched, but it has a pretty devoted fanbase even 12 years after its original release.
The petition, which was started on Change.org, reads as follows: “Far Cry 2 is one of the reasons why the Far Cry series is one the best video game series. The game needs to be remaster to enhance performance, improved textures and the removal or patching of multiplayer mode so that the game will be more enjoyable than the 2008 original.
“By signing this petition, we can give this underrated installment another chance and a better reputation it deserves.”
As described by the petition’s creator, Far Cry 2 has gotten a pretty bad rep for its bugs, but it’s also been praised for its lack of hand-holding – something which is prevalent in the most-recent games in the franchise.
Over on Steam, the Far Cry 2: Fortune Edition is still seeing positive reviews to this day. Earlier this month, one user gave the game a positive review, adding: “A very good Far Cry game. Far Cry 2 need a remaster/remake tho.”

Meanwhile, it looks like Ubisoft is going full steam ahead with Far Cry 6.
Earlier this year, known industry insider and reliable source of leaks, Jason Schreier, claimed that the next addition to the Far Cry franchise is already in the works.
Schreier took to Twitter to comment on Ubisoft’s earnings call, in which the company explained it would be launching five AAA games between April 2020 and March 2021.
We already know four of these titles: Rainbow 6 Quarantine, Watch Dogs Legion, Gods & Monsters and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
He said at the time: “Anyone holding out hope for Splinter Cell is, once again, going to be disappointed. Sorry! (It’s AC and Far Cry.)”
If this is true, expect a Far Cry 6 reveal soon!
