Gamers are signing a petition for Ubisoft to remaster (or remake!) the classic Star Wars: Revenge of The Sith video game.
Star Wars is a funny old franchise. One minute, fans are ranting and raving about how Jar Jar Binks and Hayden Christensen ruined their childhood, the next they’re petitioning for a movie based Episode 3 video game to be remastered.
Regardless of your thoughts on the prequel trilogy, it has a dedicated fan base – one that wants to take full advantage of Disney working with Ubisoft once again.
TheChange.org petition, titled “Remastered version of Star Wars Revenge of the sith video game”, aims to do exactly what it says on the tin. Petition creator Elisha Egleston cites the following reason for their request:
“I would absolutely love to see Disney and Ubisoft remaster Star Wars Revenge of the sith video game. The game was an excellent game when it was first released and it really needs an overhaul.
“I would like the graphics to come out looking more like Jedi the fallen order. I would also like extra footage or gameplay in the remastered revenge of the sith that covers the entire story. I would like to see online multiplayer added to game as well because I really liked that you could lightsaber battle another player.
“I know that LucasArts and Montreal aren’t really around anymore but I really think if Disney would collaborate with Ubisoft to make remastered version of Star wars revenge of the sith video game it would turn out wonderful. I really enjoyed the game back in the day so much as I’m sure many star wars fans did I would like to see this star wars game remastered for sure as well as others if that is possible.”
Considering that Lucasfilm Games is now back on the scene, this request might not be so far out. Originally released in 2005, the now 16-year-old game received extremely mixed reviews, with games(TM) claiming that Revenge of the Sith is “the worst Star Wars game.” The likes of Gamespy praised it for being faithful to the source material.
So, will Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith be first in line to receive a lick of remastered paint? It’s highly unlikely, but it’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm come from fans of long-forgotten games.
