GameStop Will Start Re-Opening Stores Closed By Coronavirus

GameStop has decided to open the doors to many of its stores – despite the global lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The controversial decision has caused an uproar online, with hundreds of people condemning the choice and outline its potential ramifications.

However, GameStop has made it clear that not all stores are opening. Only those located in areas in which shops are being allowed to open and continue trade will be back to business as usual.

In a statement, GameStop said the following: “The company has begun the process of re-opening stores in Italy, Germany, Austria and the states of South Carolina and Georgia and is preparing for the potential to re-open in other operating countries and states in the coming weeks.”

Although the controversy over the store openings is clear, many people are applauding GameStop for being one of the first big-brand companies to resume business as usual.

One user tweeted: “People are mad that GameStop is re-opening some of their stores. They are just going along with the states that are opening stuff back up. That’s all that’s going on.”

Another tweeted: “GameStop is opening up stores in country’s and US states that are ending lock downs……. get ready for twitter/media to try and shame everybody for opening their doors.”

A third said: “Shoutout to my local GameStop for opening back up and giving this virus the finger.”

It seems that those who do choose to open their doors first will need to be prepared for backlash!

Do you think GameStop should be opening up some of its stores already, or should it only be essential stores that are opening their doors once again?
