Gearbox simply loves to tease its fans. From the first cryptic hints that Borderlands 3 was going to be announced, to hiding Morse code in its images, Gearbox loves to play with us just as much as we love to play its games.
It’s really, really hard to sneak anything past the internet sleuths of 2019. Even the Morse code was cracked almost immediately – but Gearbox has surprised everyone by saying there’s still secrets to be discovered in the box art for Borderlands 3.

In an update post on the Borderlands official website, the company writes: “Many interesting Borderlands 3 theories—some of them with decent accuracy ratings—have been floated following frame-by-frame dissections of gameplay trailers over the past couple weeks.
“A number of you have even set about cracking some hidden codes… But you haven’t found them all yet. We’ll just drop this image here as a hint; maybe give it another look.”
An image of what’s expected to be the game’s box art is included in the post. Any idea what’s hiding within this pretty picture…?

Revelling in the mystery, Gearbox goes on to say: “Despite some incredible internet sleuthing, countless questions raised by you, the amazing Borderlands community, remain unanswered…
“We’re excited to answer at least some of these questions and lots more during the Borderlands 3 Worldwide Gameplay Reveal event on May 1.”
According to the post, the reveal event won’t just be showing in-game footage for the first time, but will also feature “commentary from the Gearbox development team on everything from the new Vault Hunters and their respective skills to interplanetary travel and sweet, sweet loot.”

After the stream “literally hundreds” of livestreamers will take to their channels to showcase Borderlands 3 and give their first impressions of the game.
Borderlands 3 arrives on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on September 13, 2019.
