Gears Of War Developer Unreal Engine 5 Character Render Is Next Level

The Gears of War developers have showcased a character model rendered using Unreal Engine 5, and its next level, next-gen.

The Coalition took over development from Epic Games for the Gears of War franchise in 2015 with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. This was a remake of the original game that was released for the Xbox 360 in 2006.

However, while we might be no closer to a new Gears of War game, The Coalition has given us a taste of what we can perhaps expect from the series.

At GDC (Games Developer Conference) 2021, The Coalition demonstrated not only an incredible character model render using Unreal Engine 5, but also a tech demo showcasing an amazing environment created within the engine.

It’s an exciting future for gaming!

Firstly, the character model is a real-time rendering test running on the Xbox Series X. Secondly, the tech demo is called “Alpha Point” and it features realistic environments and an insane level of lighting detail.

With Gears 5 pushing graphics to all new heights with Unreal Engine 4 back in 2019, the team is looking to the future and demonstrated an early look at what’s possible with Unreal Engine 5 on Xbox Series X|S,” said Microsoft.

Both tech videos might not be directly from the Gears of War franchise, but it does give us a glimpse into the future of where the series might be heading.
