What is Disintegration?

From the team at V1 Interactive, which was founded by Halo co-creator, Marcus Lehto, Disintegration is a sci-fi FPS complete with Real Time Strategy elements. It’s this unique blend of the two genres which makes for a brand new type of FPS game, and it’ll keep you on your toes from the moment you dive into the non-stop action.

Along with a single-player campaign, Disintegration will keep you coming back for more with its PvP multiplayer. Here you’ll be battling against other pilots and their crews to see who can score the most impressive wins in the chaotic and destructive apocalyptic world.

The Story

Disintegration takes place on Earth, set not too far in the future from where we are right now. Humans have learned to survive on the ravaged planet through the process of Integration, which sees human brains preserved in robotic armatures. In the single-player campaign you’ll be playing as Romer Shoal, a former pilot of the game’s main mode of transport: the Gravcycle.

Along with your crew of Outlaws, you’ll need to fight back against the Rayonne forces who are seeking to destroy the last remnants of humanity. Using your weaponized Gravcycle, it’s up to you to take to the skies in combat, while also commanding your crew on the ground in the hopes of saving what remains of mankind.

Start off small

Tutorial modes are there for a reason, and when it comes to breaking all your expectations, Disintegration knocks it out of the park. Make the tutorial mode your first port of call so you can get to grips with your Gravcycle and the general mechanics of the game.

Understanding Real-time Tactical Elements

Although coming from the creator of Master Chief, Disintegration is actually closer in its gameplay to a title like Battlezone. The game began life wholly as an RTS, with the FPS elements coming in later. Because of this, you’re going to need to keep a clear head and rely on your sharp wits and strategy skills if you want to succeed.

Controlling your weaponized Gravcycle, you’ll be armed with the tools to attack those on the ground yourself, but you’ll also need to maneuver your own forces down below too. To do this successfully, you’ll need to be fully focused on everything that’s happening – and you’ll need to be in complete control. Think of your crew as your left hand and your Gravcycle as your right hand. You’ll have to master using both together to tackle the behemoth that is Disintegration!

Master Your Moves

Remember, your Gravcycle allows you to move both vertically as well as horizontally, so get to grips with the maneuverability and the mechanics of how that works. Once you’ve nailed that, it’s time to consider how best to handle your approach on the battlefield. The Gravcycle is a lot more deadly when it’s in the right hands, and it’s the perfect way to flank your enemies. You’ll be able to get one step ahead of your foes using the Gravcycle from the sides, above and below, so take some time to master your perfect approach.

Know your crew

Your crew plays a huge part in Disintegration, and it’s worth taking the time to get to know how best to utilise your on-the-ground minions. You won’t need to buy them a cup of tea to do this, but you will need to be pretty knowledgeable when it comes to their special abilities. Once you know who does what, you can use the pinging system to prioritise certain enemies and tactically position your crew on the battlefield , maximising your team’s chances of getting the job done.

Keep up with the changes

Every Gravcycle and crew has different strengths and weaknesses that you can use to your advantage. Whether this means different weapons, speed, durability or abilities, you’ll need to be quick-witted and sharp to ensure you’re making the most of your loadout. Take the time to test out the different crews and Gravcycles to find the one fits you best.

Have fun

Disintegration is a bonafide powerhouse of fun, delivering a sharp yet chaotic experience for the player. Once you’ve gotten to grips with the basics, you’ll be ready to take on both the single-player campaign and the competitive multiplayer. What’s even more important is that you’ll be able to do it in style!

Disintegration launches on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, June 16th.
