Ghost of Tsushima has one of the highest completion rates of any open-world PlayStation game, with over half its players having completed the game.
According to Ungeek statistics based on player trophies, 50.2% of players have finished Ghost of Tsushima.
The stat is based on the number of people who have earned the gold “Mono No Aware’ trophy, which is unlocked upon completing the game’s story [via PushSquare]. Typically, only 30-40% of players actually complete open-world games, likely due to their scale and play length.
Ghost of Tsushima has seemingly broken free of this curse, with players putting in enough time to reach the game’s narrative conclusion.
Ungeek has also provided a list of games and their respective percentages of completion:
Marvel’s Spider-Man – 50.8%
Assassin’s Creed Origins – 38.2%
Far Cry 5 – 36.7%
Days Gone – 34.7%
Horizon Zero Dawn – 34.1%
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – 30%
The Witcher 3 – 29.8%
Death Stranding – 28.6%
Red Dead Redemption II – 28.2%
Watch Dogs 2 – 24.9%
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla – 19.8%
While Marvel’s Spider-Man marginally beats Ghost of Tsushima in terms of completion rate, Ungeek notes that Spidey’s adventure is a smaller scaled open-world game. It’s interesting to see Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla at the bottom of this list, considering its commercial success.
When it comes to completion rates, perhaps more popular games are more susceptible to lower figures. This could be down to a broader range of players, with varying amounts of time to play games. Many gamers struggle to find a work-life balance as they progress in life, making completing expansive open-world games fairly difficult.
The title of “most completed PS4 game” is held by The Last of Us Part 2, with an outstanding 58% of players reaching the game’s end. While the above figures are sure to change as time goes on, it does speak volumes for the habits of players when it comes to open-world experiences.
