Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut Upgrade Is A Bit Messy

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut has been announced, and so too has its next-gen upgrade details. However, it’s a little bit messy.

It has also been revealed via a PlayStation Blog post, that, unlike many other next-gen upgrades, the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will not be free for those that own the PS4 version.

However, your progress from the PS4 will carry over to the PS5 version with a simple data transfer. Happy days! Especially after games such as DOOM Eternal and Yakuza: Like A Dragon haven’t been able to offer that.

Here’s where it gets a little confusing

Let’s get into the meat of the details, shall we? Firstly, there will be a £10/$10 price difference between the PS4 and PS5 versions. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will cost £59.99/$59.99 on PS4 and £69.99/$69.99 on PS5.

This is where things get a little confusing. If you ‘pre-order’ an ‘upgrade’ to the Director’s Cut on PS4 it will cost $19.99.

What happens after the pre-order phase on August 20th?

However, once the release date has arrived, the prices will be bumped up from the pre-order phase. Starting from the Director’s Cut release date on August 20th, if you already bought the Director’s Cut on PS4 and then upgrade to the PS5 Director’s Cut at any point, it will cost $9.99.

If you only own the original PS4 version of Ghost of Tsushima it will cost $29.99 to upgrade to the Director’s Cut on PS5.

There will be some DLC bonuses

While we’re here, by pre-ordering any version of the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on the PS Store or at select retailers, players will be rewarded with some pre-order bonuses.

The pre-order bonus for the Director’s Cut includes a digital “mini” soundtrack and a digital artbook which features 10 new pieces of concept art from the new Iki Island expansion. The Director’s Cut will also come with some bonus DLC skins and a new director’s commentary.

The upgrade process is a bit messy, but it is what it is. What are your thoughts on the upgrade process for Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut? Let us know on our social channels.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be released on August 20th on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
