It has been revealed that PlayStation exclusive Ghost of Tsushima has sold more than five million copies worldwide since its release in July 2020, becoming the “fastest-selling first party original PS4 game.”

Ghost of Tsushima is developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the studio responsible for the Sly Cooper and Infamous series, and has been met with high critical acclaim from both critics and fans alike.
That high critical acclaim seems to have been reflected by Ghost of Tsushima’s impressive sales of over five million copies since it launched this year as reported by The New York Times (thanks Nibellion).
Within its first three days of sale, Ghost of Tsushima earned incredible launch numbers by selling over 2.4 million copies worldwide, which made it the PlayStation 4’s fastest-selling, first-party new IP debut.
This means that Ghost of Tsushima now joins the likes of Marvel’s Spider-Man, God of War (2018), Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us: Part 2 and Final Fantasy VII: Remake as one of the PS4’s best-selling exclusives.
Ghost of Tsushima is a third-person, open-world action adventure set in the late 13th century of feudal Japan. The story follows the tale of Jin Sakai, a samurai warrior who questions everything that he has ever known at the risk of losing it all.

Recently the new and free multiplayer expansion Legends was released and it’s since been revealed that Ghost of Tsushima will run at 60FPS when being played on PlayStation 5.
The sales of Ghost of Tsushima will only continue to grow as we go into a new generation with the PlayStation 5.

However as impressive as the five million plus sold copies are Ghost of Tsushima are, is it more impressive than over nine million foxes being petted in-game?
