God Of War Outsold By Spider-Man But GoW Director Seems Pleased

Spider-Man was one of the most hotly-anticipated titles of 2018 so it’s not really any surprise to hear that it’s already breaking records less than a week after its release.

The title, from Insomniac Games, has sold more copies at launch than any other title this year, and it’s dominated the PlayStation 4 exclusive sales.

It’s bested God of War, Yakuza 6 and Detroit in terms of exclusive games, and it’s also now the fastest-selling Marvel video game title of all time.

Well done, Spidey!

Even though Insomniac Games may have taken the crown from God of War, GoW’s director Cory Barlog doesn’t seem to mind too much.

Sharing an adorable video of his family enjoying Spider-Man together, he tweeted: “Spider-Journal Day 3:

“Helo thinks Spiderman is the greatest thing ever. He can’t stop laughing as Anna plays.

“Still waiting for my turn.”

Chatting with fans via Twitter Barlog added: “loving [the game] when I get to play. Which is still only a little.”

When asked what his son thinks of Barlog’s own gaming creations and back catalog, he stated: “Not sure he cares much right now. If I made Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig or Spider-Man I think he would be impressed.”

Too cute! And who wouldn’t want to play a Barlog-created Peppa Pig game?

The highly-anticipated title hasn’t disappointed its fans, nabbing itself near-perfect scores across the board and wowing pretty much everyone who’s gotten their hands on it.

The visually-stunning game has a strong emphasis on the fluidity of movement, creating a New York City that’s fun to web-sling around thanks to the attention to detail and clear dedication of the superheroes at Insomniac Games.

Have you spent your weekend exploring NYC as everyone’s favourite arachno-superhero? What other titles are you excited for in 2018 now that we’ve gotten Spider-Man in all its web-swinging glory?
