Gotham Knights is getting a big patch which will address the controversial framerate issues of the DC co-op adventure.
Gotham Knights launched last week for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While the framerate hasn’t been perfect on PC, it’s been much worse on consoles. Furthermore, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are locked to just 30FPS.
Gotham Knights is locked at 30FPS on consoles
Don’t get me wrong, as with visuals, a high framerate isn’t the be-all and end-all ingredient for a successful video game. However, it at least makes a worthy contribution. Furthermore, the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Gotham Knights were cancelled in order to make the new-gen versions the best they can be.
So, when Gotham Knights launched on new-gen consoles with a locked 30FPS, it didn’t sit well with many gamers. Moreover, the game would still drop below 30FPS from time to time. Which wasn’t a good look for a much-hyped PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S game.
Thankfully, however, the developers at WB Montreal are releasing a big patch to address the various issues of Gotham Knights. The patch in question is already live on PC which aims to fix reported problems related to co-op matchmaking, keyboard input issues as well as stability and more.
Gotham’s defenders are getting a fix on consoles
As for the console players, the patch is planned to go live next week. The Gotham Knights Twitter account also specifically mentions the console framerates. It’s a shame that Gotham Knights has had issues with the framerate because, in my experience, it is an enjoyable game.
It’s unlikely that a 60FPS mode will be added at this stage on consoles. However, we will at least get a steady 30FPS, hopefully. Are you happy about the framerate issues being addressed on consoles? Let us know across our social media channels.
