Rockstar Games is officially all done and dusted with Red Dead Redemption 2, and while there’s still work happening on Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online, it’s time we start wondering what the next project will be.
Grand Theft Auto 6 and Bully 2 are the most likely candidates for the next big release from Rockstar, but with the latter seemingly dead in the water, it might be time to clear the stage for the next GTA.
As we head into the next generation of console gaming, it’s a safe bet to say that GTA 6 will be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett, but other than that we don’t know too much.
GTA 6 might be coming sooner than you might think though, as a recent LinkedIn advert posted by Rockstar shows the company is in need of play testers: but for what project?
Kiran Kumar, Rockstar Games talent acquisition lead, posted the following image to LinkedIn, showing the search is on for play testers at Rockstar India.
Interestingly, actor Steven Ogg who you might recognise from shows like The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Westworld, and a little-known video game called Grand Theft Auto 5, also commented on the release of GTA 6.
During Brazil Game Show earlier this year, Ogg reportedly told the audience that the next instalment in the series is coming “soon.”
Sure, “soon” is an incredibly vague thing to say, but he also went on to add something very interesting, saying that Rockstar Games’ bigger games take around seven to eight years to make. He then said: “Do the math.”
GTA 5 released back in 2013, so seven or eight years from then means we might be looking at a 2020 or 20201 release window for GTA 6. If this is the case then Rockstar India really could be hiring playtesters for the next GTA…
Here’s hoping!
