Rumours are making the internet rounds claiming that GTA Online could not only be in for its “biggest update ever” but also its first ever “map expansion.”
Since GTA Online launched in 2013 as an additional mode to Grand Theft Auto V, it has received many content updates. In fact, Rockstar Games has supported the game so well that GTA 5/Online is one of the most profitable video games of all-time.
The latest rumours come from French Rockstar Games fansite Rockstar Mag, where it’s suggested that GTA fans could be in for a big surprise. The site doesn’t name its sources, so take the rumours with a pinch of salt.
According to the report from Rockstar Mag, it’s claimed that a forthcoming update will be GTA Online’s “biggest ever update”. In fact, it’s said to be so big that it will make the map even larger, with the game’s first-ever “map expansion.”
It is said that the rumoured map expansion will add an all-new island location. Rockstar Mag refers to the final scene in a recent Gorillaz music video that apparently shows an unseen island.
Sadly this music video has since been taken down, which perhaps lends credence to the rumour. If the video did feature an upcoming island, this could explain why the music video has been taken down.
When referring to the scene in the Gorillaz music video, Rockstar Mag said that the unseen island was “information that we had been holding for several months.”
Rockstar Mag also claims that they have heard the same pieces of information from multiple sources to add substance to the rumours.
However just like with all rumours, until anything is officially confirmed by Rockstar Games we must take all hearsay with a pinch of salt.
This “biggest update ever” is expected to launch next month so we’ll soon know if there’s any truth to these rumours.
