Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice has been fully optimised on Xbox Series X|S. However, it’s not all good news because the PS5 has been skipped.
Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice was originally released for the PlayStation 4 back in 2017. Before coming to Xbox One in 2018, and Nintendo Switch in 2019 respectively.
At E3 2018, Hellblade studio Ninja Theory became a Microsoft-owned studio, meaning that any new games from the developer would be Xbox and PC exclusive. However, following the Microsoft acquisition of the studio, Hellblade was still released on other platforms.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice would later be optimised for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Which made an already great-looking game look even better. To be fair, Hellblade even looks fantastic on the Nintendo Switch.
It’s not good news for PS5 players
Yet fans have been patiently awaiting optimisation for new-gen consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That wait was finally over this week, well, at least for Xbox Series X|S owners.
Ninja Theory released the highly anticipated patch which ups the resolution to 4K, as well as 120hz. The patch also includes ray-tracing on both Xbox Series X and Series S. Furthermore, textures and materials have been upgraded, as well as adding a chapter select function.
Sadly, this next-gen update seems like it won’t be coming to PlayStation 5. On one hand, it’s understandable, after all, Ninja Theory is now owned by Microsoft.
But on the flip side, people have still bought Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice on PlayStation, and it is a shame that they will not be getting the same value for money.

The sequel, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will release for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Though a release date has not yet been announced.
