Cavil is best known for being Superman in the DC universe, as well as Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix adaptation of The Witcher. The actor has teased his next big project via Instagram, in the form of a mirror selfie and the following caption:

“Secret project? Or just a handful of paper with random words on it…. Guess you’ll have to wait and see. Happy hump day all.”

The handful of paper in question is sitting in the foreground of Cavil’s selfie and is out of focus. Despite this, Gamepressure has managed to decipher some of the blurred out text, which has led the publication to believe that the “secret project” is Mass Effect related. Gamepressure was able to identify words like “Cerberus”, “Reaper”, “Geth” or “Tali’Zorah”, all of which pertain to Mass Effect lore.

So, what exactly is Cavil working on? Well, Gamepressure has suggested that it might be something to do with a Mass Effect TV series or film. This is unsurprising, especially since various video game properties are being converted to TV and film, like The Last of Us and Uncharted. It’d make sense for Bioware to want a slice of TV adaptation pie, especially since Mass Effect’s rich lore and cast of characters gives it everything it needs to become a live-action series.

What Does This Mean For Mass Effect Fans?

The question is, did Henry Cavill mean to give so much of this secret project away? Well, maybe. The actor perhaps didn’t expect that anyone would be able to read what was on his papers. However, he almost definitely posted the photo with an intent to tease. Whether or not the project has been greenlighted is yet to be seen. After all, this could be Cavil’s attempt to convince a studio to make a Mass Effect adaptation rather than something he’s been cast in.

Only time will tell. It won’t be long till we can delve into Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which should help pass the time while we wait on more news.
