Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Remakes Announced for Nintendo Switch

Stay calm, it’s finally happening! The Pokemon Company has announced that players will be returning to the lakeshores of Sinnoh in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, releasing for the Nintendo Switch late 2021.

Picture this: You’re 9 years old and you’re up past your bedtime, despite your mum coming in to tell you to go sleep twice already. You’re given away the tinny chimes of Route 216 seeping through your cheap headphones and the faint, snowy glow of your Nintendo DS under your covers.

That’s me.

As Cynthia told me tales of magical space creatures and I fought Gods with my team of friends, I, slowly but surely, fell in love with gaming.

If, like me, you’ve wanted Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes for the past 10 years, you’re certainly not alone! This remake might not come as a massive surprise to invested fans. Game Freak, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have given other classic Pokemon titles have received a lick of remastered paint long before now. Diamond and Pearl remakes were LONG overdue.

More importantly, these remakes always release to huge critical and commercial success. Examples of these remakes include the beloved 2004 Leaf Green/Fire Red (my first Pokemon games!) and 2009’s HeartGold/SoulSilver (my favourite Pokemon games!). Suffice to say, I’m very excited for Nintendo to introduce a whole new generation to the beauty of Sinnoh.

What’s In the Diamond and Pearl Remakes?

From the trailer, we saw the beautiful lakefronts of Sinnoh, home to the Legendary Lake Spirits: Mespirit, Azelf and Uxie. Fans can also look forward to an adorable chibi style, never-seen-before!
