Hideo Kojima, the Japanese creator of Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding, is having his book translated into English.

The book was initially called “The Gifted Gene and My Lovable Memes”. It received a title change to “The Memes I Love” when released in paperback in 2019. Since then, many fans across the globe have been eagerly awaiting an English translation.
The English version will be renamed once again, this time to “The Creative Gene.” It will reveal the influences and inspirations behind the creative mind of the legendary Japanese game developer.

The news was announced on the Viz Media Twitter page, the publisher of The Creative Gene.
“Hideo Kojima, creator of Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid, explores the influences and inspirations that shape his work. The Creative Gene drops Fall 2021,” said the tweet.
The Creative Gene will feature a collection of essays, and will also include pop culture inspirations and how they were translated into video games.
The official blurb for The Creative Gene reads as follows [via Polygon]:
“Ever since he was a child, Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima was a voracious consumer of movies, music, and books. They ignited his passion for stories and storytelling, and the results can be seen in his ground-breaking, iconic video games.
“Now the head of independent studio Kojima Productions, Kojima’s enthusiasm for entertainment media has never waned.“

The novel will also include conversations with musician Gen Hoshino. Hoshino lent a helping hand to the amazing Death Stranding soundtrack.
