Final Fantasy 7 Remake director Tetsuya Nomura has stated that fans must wait for Part 2 to release on PS5 to fully see the series utilise the available tech.

The first part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake released for the PlayStation 4 in 2020 and it quickly became one of the console’s most critically acclaimed titles.
At the quite underwhelming PlayStation State of Play event last week, one of the (few) highlights was the announcement that Final Fantasy 7 Remake would be receiving a new-gen port on PS5.

The PS5 version, called Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, will come with improved graphics, resolution, framerate, faster loading times, a photo mode, and haptic feedback for the DualSense controller.
A new paid-for expansion was also announced featuring the character Yuffie. In case you missed it, check out the trailer below!
If you’re hyped for the PS5 upgrades then you might want to reel it in, as we won’t be seeing the true power of PS5 and Final Fantasy for a while.
When speaking to Famitsu, director Nomura said that we won’t be seeing the full extent of the PS5’s power until FF7 Remake Part 2 [via VGC].

“In terms of graphics, lighting and textures are the main adjustments [in Intergrade], but environmental effects such as fog have also been added to further enhance the sense of realism and immersion in the world,” said Nomura.
“As for adaptive triggers, they are partially supported. However, in terms of using all of the features of PlayStation 5 please wait for the next game where we can start from scratch.”
Sadly, there’s no release date for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 as of yet. Back in July 2020, it was confirmed that the sequel is in development and that Square Enix hopes to release it “as soon as possible”.
