So how long does it take to finish the campaign of Resident Evil Village?

Well, that all depends on the individual playing the game. Judging by various reviews and from my own experience completing it, on your first run, it will probably take you between 10 to 15 hours to finish Resident Evil Village.

For me personally, it took just over 14 hours to beat Resident Evil Village on Normal difficulty, with a fair bit of treasure hunting and crafting thrown in alongside the main story.

Obviously from your second run onwards, your completion time will be drastically reduced as you’ll know where to go, what to find things and how to defeat certain enemies. However, times can vary depending on your playstyle. Do you rush through a game eager to get it done, or do you like to take your time and soak in the world?

It’s worth noting that outside of the game’s main story, there’s plenty to do in Resident Evil Village. The game offers a decent amount of treasure hunting, with rooms and locations marked in red on the map turning blue once you’ve successfully found everything on offer.

Aside from finding rare gems, statues and jewellery to sell to The Duke, you can also use animal meat to craft recipes. These will offer permanent stat boosts, such as permanent health increases. Unlocking all of these recipes will take a while, and will see you hunting down rare birds and fish to find the right resources.

Difficulty is also a factor. As I often do, on my first playthrough of any game I play on the standard difficulty, and when I’ve finished my first run, I then take on the harder difficulties. Though there was that one time when I jumped into Dead Space 2 on Zealot difficulty. That was tough.

Once you’ve finished your first playthrough of Resident Evil Village, there are plenty of reasons to come back for further runs. For starters, we already know that The Mercenaries is an unlockable mode once you’ve finished the campaign.

Additionally, without giving anything away, along with various difficulty levels, other features unlock to encourage more than one playthrough. As well as the tradition of Capcom encouraging speedruns, which has been a common trend of the Resident Evil series.

Either way, however you choose to play Resident Evil Village, we can assure you that you’re going to have a blast. It’s up to you whether you rush through Resident Evil Village, or take your time and see what the game has to offer, but expect an average time to beat of around 10 hours!

In our review of Resident Evil Village, we said: “To put it simply, barring remakes, Resident Evil Village is the best entry in the series since Resident Evil 4.
