How To Redeem PS5 Games On PS Plus – Without Owning The Console

PlayStation Plus features free* PlayStation 5 games every month as part of its subscription package. However, many would-be PS5 owners are losing out on their monthly PS Plus perks due to ongoing console supply shortages. Thankfully, there’s still a way to add free PS5 games to your library, even if you don’t own the console.

If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you’ve likely noticed that some games are labelled explicitly for PS4 and PS5. This means that games like Oddworld: Soulstorm are only playable via the PS5, while PS4 games are playable on both systems thanks to backwards compatibility.

This essentially means that if you’re a PS4 owner, you’re currently losing out on some of the games offered as part of your subscription. However, while PS5 games aren’t playable on your PS4, there’s still a way to add them to your library via your PlayStation account.

Here’s how you can add PS5 games to your library without owning the console:

  1. Sign in to the PlayStation Store using an Internet Browser
  2. Navigate to the PS Plus section of the PlayStation Store
  3. Click the “Find out more” button beneath your desired PS Plus game
  4. Click the “Add to Library” button

Adding PS5 games to your library in this way means that once you finally get a hold of the console, you’ll have access to a plethora of PS Plus titles.

As long as you’re signed up for Sony’s monthly subscription, you’ll be able to continue adding PS5 titles to your library throughout the year. Stock issues with the PlayStation 5 are still ongoing, so it might be a while yet before you can get your hands on the coveted console.

This month’s PS Plus lineup features the newly released Oddworld: Soulstorm, a remake of the 1998 Abe’s Oddysee sequel, Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus. While the game is available on the PS4, subscribers will only grab the PS5 version for free. The game is also getting a physical release in July, which includes a collector’s edition package.
