The Indie retro survival horror game Tormented Souls is out later this month. Better still, you can download a free demo right now.
Tormented Souls is inspired by survival horror games of yesteryear such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill. This influence is something that developers Dual Effect and Abstract Digital Works wear proudly on their sleeves.
The story of Tormented Souls takes place in a small town called Winterlake. Investigating the disappearance of missing twin girls, our protagonist Caroline Walker embarks on an unnerving quest that leads her to an abandoned “mansion-turned-hospital.”
Tormented Souls features fixed camera perspectives and puzzle-solving, a true throwback to survival horror games of old. You will have to use your wits if you are going to escape the horrors of Winterlake and uncover the town’s dark secrets.
What about the playable demo?
A playable demo of Tormented Souls has been available on PC for quite a while now, but it is now available for PlayStation 5. The demo will give you a taste of the first 40 minutes of the game. At the time of writing, the demo isn’t available on other platforms.
When will Tormented Souls release?
Tormented Souls will release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S digitally on August 27th. It will have a low launch RRP of just £16.99/€19.99/$19.99. A physical version of Tormented Souls will also be available for PS5 on the same date.
Tormented Souls will also launch at a later date for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The physical version of the game is available from FunStock and comes with an exclusive Sun and Moon collectible coin.
