Insidious 5 just got a release date

Five years after its last appearance on the big screen, the next instalment in the Insidious franchise has a release date.

Insidious 5 is the next film in the franchise, which kicked off in 2011 with the first film. The fifth film is coming next year, and now we know exactly when it’ll be released in theaters. Insidious 5 has a release date of July 7th, 2023.

Insidious 5 is Patrick Wilson’s directorial debut. He will also star in the movie, returning to his previous role. He’s joined by another returning star Ty Simpkins.

Insidious 5 takes place “10 years after the last instalment, as Ty Simpkins’ Dalton begins college”.

Insidious 5

The Insidious franchise was originally directed by Saw duo James Wan and Leigh Whannell. Wan directed the first two films, while Whannell directed the third and fourth films. Patrick Wilson is taking over director duties for the fifth film, which will be the first not directed by the original duo.

The release date was confirmed ahead of this week’s San Diego Comic Con by Sony. They announced a series of release date changes for their upcoming titles, including Insidious 5. The upcoming Madame Web has also been pushed back.

Production apparently started in the spring of this year, but the film’s release date has lead to speculation that it could have been delayed. Patrick Wilson is also working on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, reprising his role from the first Aquaman film.

Currently, the next film is set to release around the time The Flash, Indiana Jones 5 and the next Mission Impossible all release.

Insidious became a hit among horror fans, despite not doing very well with critics. The films have been successful despite a lower budget than other films. The first two are currently available to watch on Netflix.
