Justice League director Zack Snyder has revealed that Jared Leto ad-libbed his infamous Joker line seen in a trailer for the Snyder director’s cut.

“We live in a society where honour is a distant memory” was the line in the trailer spoken by Jared Leto as the Joker.
Just a heads-up, I’m about to mention a very minor spoiler below. But if it’s not bothered a spoiler-sensitive person such as myself, you should be fine. Happy to proceed? Let’s go!
This specific Joker scene in the trailer caught like wildfire across the internet, causing countless memes. However, it does not feature in the actual movie.
Up until this point, I’ve watched this trailer in question a couple of times now, and unless I was told (like now), I would have no idea that Jared Leto ad-libbed the infamous line. The line is a perfect fit for the trailer, and it’s definitely impressive to hear it wasn’t scripted!
“We went back and forth with it,” said Snyder discussing the line during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“And I’ll give Jared credit for that little ad-lib there, ’cause it was really, really beautiful.”
Justice League: The Snyder Cut is available in the US on streaming platform HBO Max. In the UK you can watch it via Sky Movies, or streaming platform Sky Now with the Movie Pass.
In related DC movie news, the hashtag #ReleaseTheAyerCut trended on Twitter as fans of the 2016 Suicide Squad movie directed by David Ayer called for it receive the Snyder treatment.
DC denied that Suicide Squad would be getting an Ayer Cut, which led to the movie director simply asking “why?”
Will the Suicide Squad receive an Ayer Cut one day? I certainly hope so.
