Knockout City Will Be Going Free-To-Play Later This Year

Competitive dodgeball game Knockout City will be going free-to-play this “spring”, with developer Velan Studios taking over publishing duties from EA.

Knockout City launched last year in May. But surprisingly given the nature of the game itwas not released as free to play. Right now it costs £17.99, but as of this “spring,” that will no longer be the case. As the game will be going free-to-play. Not only this, Velan Studios will be taking over publishing duties from EA. Velan hopes that this will “bring our game to millions of new players around the world, by removing the price tag entirely.”

In its announcement post, the developer wrote “With that being said, we do want to take a moment to our day one fans for purchasing Knockout City and supporting us from the very beginning. Your dedication and loyalty motivates us everyday to continue to build our world, and we couldn’t have gotten this far without you.”

Knockout City is currently prepping for its sixth season. Velan noted that there will be a Loyalty Bundle for those who have bought the game before season 6 launches. The bundle will include “exclusive legendary cosmetics, XP boosts, and 2,000 Holobux.”

Velan notes that there will be slightly less content for season 5 compared to previous seasons. This is due to them switching over to self-publishing. “There won’t be a new Brawl Pass for Season 5, we’ll have fewer bundles and new cosmetics for the season, and there’s no new map or new ball.” However, all this and more will return with season 6.
