Hideo Kojima reassures PlayStation fans following the major announcement at the recent Xbox and Bethesda Showcase.
During the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, legendary developer Hideo Kojima announced that Kojima Productions would be making a game on behalf of Xbox Game Studios. While many fans were excited by this news, there is a small corner of the community that has become quite angry about the collaboration.
“It’s a completely new game, one that no one has ever experienced or seen before,” said Kojima during the announcement.
“Never-before-seen concept”
“With Microsoft’s cutting edge cloud technology and the change in the industry’s trend it has now become possible to challenge myself to make this never-before-seen concept.”
Kojima concluded: “It may take some time, but I’m looking forward to teaming up with Xbox Game Studios and hope to bring you some exciting news in the future! Thank you!”
However, despite Kojima Productions being an independent studio, some PlayStation fans have shown anger towards the news which has resulted in Kojima Productions issuing a statement.
“After the announcement of our partnership with Microsoft using the cloud technology, many people have asked us about our collaboration with SIE,” tweeted Kojima Productions. “Please be assured that we continue to have a very good partnership with PlayStation as well.”
To be fair, and correct me if I’m wrong, I’ve not seen anywhere stating that this new game would be forever exclusive for Xbox, further stating that it will never come to PlayStation.
Sure, there will be some form of exclusivity, perhaps a timed-exclusive deal, but it’s not impossible that Kojima’s new game won’t come to other formats as well as Xbox and PC after a set period of time. However, I’m just speculating.
“Blinded by greed”
Yet, that has not stopped angry PlayStation fans calling for the Xbox game from Kojima Productions to be stopped once and for all!
“Kojima is betraying his loyal fans. He has been blinded by greed. We must help him come back to the winning side,” reads a petition on Change.org. At the time of writing, the petition has over 1.600 signatures. Though it won’t stop anything, despite the pleas from some.
