Konami is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the iconic Castlevania series with an epic NFT auction.
This is certainly a weird choice. There are a number of ways to celebrate such an iconic series as Castlevania than an NFT auction. How about an announcement for a new game or perhaps a remaster of the Lords of Shadow titles?
The list of Castlevania NFTs on auction is described as “unique” digital works featuring “game scenes, BGM, and newly drawn art from the series”.
Taking a look at the Castlevania NFTs on the “Konami Memorial NFT” page to me it mostly looks like a collection of JPEGs and gameplay clips with an overlay text. I suppose if someone wants to spend big money on these NFTs, then all the power to them.

The concept of NFTs, especially those implemented in video games, has overwhelmingly not gone down well with the video game community. Despite this, big publishers such as Konami, Square Enix, EA, Ubisoft and more are always finding ways to sell NFTs to those with money to burn.
NFTs are here for the long haul

Unfortunately, the concept of NFTs does not appear to be going away anytime soon as more companies continue to jump on the bandwagon.
