Latest Anthem Bug Is Reportedly Causing Console Shutdown

Edit: Since the time of publication it has been confirmed that although PS4 consoles are being completely turned off by the bug, they are not bricking. Bricking suggests the console has been destroyed by the bug, which appears to not be the case in this scenario.

Reports of Anthem causing a complete console shutdown for some PlayStation 4 players have begun surfacing over the last few days, and it’s left lots of gamers incredibly worried about booting up the game.

Over on Reddit, one player explained the issues they were facing in detail, saying: “[Anthem] is the only game that causes a complete PS4 shutdown…

“When encountering a crash or game error, sometimes I get booted to the main menu or out of the game completely to the PS4 dashboard. But twice now when trying to matchmake my PS4 has completely turned off. Don’t worry about the loot patch ffs, sort the bugs out first please.”

As more and more similar concerns came to light via social media, EA has spoken out and said it’s aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

Hopefully EA gets this sorted sooner rather than later, as Anthem has faced enough controversy without people worrying about the game bricking their consoles…

So far it seems that only PlayStation players are being affected, and both regular and Pro consoles have reportedly suffered.
