Last week Nintendo finally unveiled the first glimpse of the next generation of Pokémon in the upcoming Switch games Pokémon Sword and Shield.
Although the reveal of the new region, new starter Pokémon and new graphics left almost everyone impressed, the names of the new games caused a bit of a stir.
The internet blew up with memes, and one publication accidentally used one of these memes to announce the reveal, claiming the Pokémon titles were Sword, Shield and Gun.

Don’t worry. The whole thing is a complete mistake and there’s definitely not – nor will there ever will be (hopefully) – Pokémon Gun.
The publication tweeted an apologetic response to the error, saying [translated]: “Due to an involuntary error in our section E, on March 2, 2019, an image was published that does not correspond to the release note of the Pokémon Shield and Pokémon Sword videogames. We regret the error, it was not our intention to alter the interests of Nintendo and the gamers”

Pokémon Shield and Pokémon Sword will introduce the eighth generation of pocket monsters, and will launch later this year on Nintendo Switch.
