Rumours about Left 4 Dead 3 are about as common as rumours for GTA 6, Bully 2 and – of course – Half-Life 3. However, it seems as though one Valve insider has multiple reasons to believe that L4D 3 is back in development.
YouTuber and known Valve leaker, Tyler McVicker of ValveNewsNetwork recently shared a video of his knowledge of Left 4 Dead 3, claiming that “multiple” of his unnamed sources have said it’s back at the forefront for Valve.
In the video, which you can watch below, ValveNewsNetwork explains that the extreme hype for the upcoming VR game, Half-Life: Alyx, has spurred Valve into action on a third addition to the Left 4 Dead franchise.
“There is a high chance [Valve] will be pulling Left 4 Dead 3 out again,” VNN explains in the video. “And they may already have done that”.
He goes on to add: “I have word that there were a few major meetings that took place almost immediately after the trailer for Half-Life: Alyx dropped that essentially caused everybody internally at Valve to change everything about their future plans for virtual reality, public communication, and game development in general.”
It sounds too good to be true, considering that it’s believed Left 4 Dead 3 was in the works until 2017, when the project was apparently scrapped.
This isn’t the first time that the Valve leaker has claimed a new game is coming. Just last month, VNN said that Valve was working on a Left 4 Dead VR game, again thanks to the overwhelmingly positive response to Half-Life: Alyx.
Until we hear official word from Valve, take the rumours with a pinch of salt for now. At least we have Half-Life: Alyx to look forward to! The VR game will launch this year, and despite initial concerns, will be the length of a full new addition to the beloved franchise.
