Turtle Rock Studios has shown off more of its Left 4 Dead spiritual successor, Back 4 Blood, and says that it will arrive on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
The horde shooter takes heavy inspiration from the team’s previous title and sees a squad of four battle their way through various zombie-infested levels.
In a new PvP trailer, Turtle Rock showed off the new ‘Swarm’ mode. It pits players against each other in a competition to see which team can survive the longest.
Versus mode returns!
Teams take it in turns to play as the ‘Cleaners’ and the ‘Ridden’. It will be the role of the Ridden horde to eliminate the Cleaners as quick as possible. Team roles then swap and try to beat the time score set in the previous round. It’s a riff on a similar mode seen in Left 4 Dead, called Versus Mode.
There’s a bunch of different Ridden types for players to get to grips with, all of which have unique gameplay styles. As matches progress, players will be able to unlock and power up their abilities. For example, points can be spent to upgrade the size and strength of the AI horde.
An open beta begins on August 5th ahead of the game’s release on 12th October.
Earlier gameplay teases some incredibly intelligent zombie AI, contradictory to their relative intelligence. Depending on how you play, the zombies will adapt their approach. You’ll have to think on your feet to get past the horde as no two
Though originally scheduled to release during this summer, Back 4 Blood is now expected to launch on 12th October. Even better, we now know that the title will launch on Xbox Game Pass the same day that it releases.
Alongside a release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC, Back 4 Blood will also launch on PlayStation 4 and 5.
