Looks Like The Voice Of Mario Won’t Be In The Super Mario Movie

According to reports the iconic voice actor behind Super Mario might not be voicing the Nintendo mascot in the next Mario movie.

Charles Martinet has been the voice of Mario since the 90s. Chances are that while you’re reading this article right now, you can hear his voice saying “it’s a-me, MARIO!

In 2022 a new animated movie from Illumination is set to release but despite being slated to be out next year, it seems that Martinet hasn’t been invited to be the voice of Mario.

While chatting at GalaxyCon Live [via TheGamer/ Stardust Blaze), Martinet was asked about whether or not he will be taking part in the upcoming movie.

Well, it sounds like a marvelous thing, you know? It sounds like great fun and if they invite me to play, I’ll go in and play with great joy and happiness,” Martinet said.

Apparently, the Super Mario movie has been in development for a number of years and in my personal opinion, if Martinet hasn’t been asked by now, he’s probably not going to be. Unless it’s as a cameo of some kind.

It will certainly be strange not having Charles Martinet to be the voice of Mario, but if they do cast someone else as the Italian plumber, I have no doubts that the hired voice actor would do a great Mario impression.

However for me personally, if Charles Martinet isn’t going to be the voice of Mario in the next Super Mario movie, you might as well cast Vin Diesel in the role.
