A major Final Fantasy announcement has been teased for 2023 which is seemingly unrelated to the games already announced for this year.
In a New Year address by Final Fantasy veteran developer Yoshinori Kitase, he teased that a “big announcement” will be made by Square Enix later this year.
What Final Fantasy news can we expect?
At this point, we already know that Final Fantasy 16 arrives on June 22nd, as well as the second part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake later in the year with Rebirth.
That being said, it’s entirely possible that part two of the remake will be delayed into 2024. So, what else can fans of the popular Square Enix RPG series look forward to this year?
As of right now, we can only speculate. However, Kitase, who is the producer of Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth told fans: “Rest assured we’re working hard to make sure 2023 is the most exciting year yet,“.
The most obvious of choices would be that any other of the classic FF games could receive a remake or remaster. What’s more, we could even get a brand new Final Fantasy story. At this point, we don’t know whether the news will be related to PC, consoles or mobile. Only time will tell.
Perhaps we should maintain expectations
However, it’s also important not to get our expectations too high. After all, as proven with Parasite Eve and the recent news of Square Enix pushing NFTs in 2023, being totally let down is an absolute possibility.
What do you hope or better still, think the big Final Fantasy news will be in 2023? Let’s hope it won’t be NFT-related. Let us know your thoughts across our social media channels.
