Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC Tracks Seem To Have Received A Visual Update

Judging from a new set of screenshots, the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC tracks seem to have received some updated visuals ahead of release.

Last month, we received the surprise news that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe would be getting some brand new DLC. While many were hoping for a new game, instead Nintendo is offering the Booster Course Pass. The pass includes tracks from across the series history, and is being released over the course of six waves.

Some fans were not impressed by some of the visuals, pointing out how it looked like some of the tracks might have been pulled straight from Mario Kart Tour. However, a new tweet from Nintendo shows a new screenshot of Coconut Mall which shows some updated visuals.

As pointed out by Twitter user Mario Party Legacy, as seen above, Coconut Mall has seen a few changes since the announcement trailer. The lighting on the building seems to be different, and the texture of the road has changed. And there also seems to be a Mario Kart TV van with a toad filming to the left of the track now too.

While there are some noticeable changes from the announcement trailer, the graphical style is still different from the main game. Mario Kart 8 is obviously stylised. But there is a touch of realism to the tracks that isn’t present in the DLC tracks. It could be fine when in motion, but at the moment the differences are looking a bit jarring.
