An advertisement found in a Japanese 7-11 may hint at the release of the second wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC.
Since the release of the first wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC, Nintendo has been quiet. Nothing has been announced to further indicate when we’re likely to see the second wave be released. However, fans speculate that an advertisement at a Japanese 7-11 may have the answers.
The tweet by PushDustin, posted on July 9th, reveals an image of the 7-11 advertisement that many are speculating means the second wave is soon on its way.
The advertisement only provides information regarding the new courses we already have but the date July 17th, 2022, can be seen in the top right corner. This could be the date where we’ll get an official announcement of the release of the second wave.
Since the release of the final DLC to Super Smash Bros Ultimate, many have shifted their attention to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. With the second wave of DLC to the game being so highly anticipated, we’re unlikely to see an add the speculation until an official announcement from Nintendo.
Don’t get your hopes dashed
February 2022 saw the announcement of the ‘Booster Course Pass’ for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch. A DLC season-pass for the upgraded kart racer, the Booster Course Pass is set to release six waves of DLC. Each bringing eight new tracks to the game.
The first wave came to the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack on March 18th. It featured the Golden Dash Cup and the Lucky Cat Cup. Each consisted of remastered courses from previous Mario Kart games, and Mario Kart Tour, the Mario Kart mobile game.
As shown on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s website, the 6 waves of content are to be released up until the end of 2023. Making around this month the perfect opportunity to release the second wave. Especially as many of us are off for the summer holidays.
Whether or not we’ll see a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe announcement, we’ll all have to wait and see. There’s still plenty to play on the Switch in the meantime. Especially as Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be released on July 29th.
Try not to get your hopes up and wait for an official announcement from Nintendo.
