The disturbing Martha is Dead is now available on PC and consoles, and now we know what has been censored in the game.
Recently, at Sony’s request, Martha is Dead was censored on PlayStation. However, certain scenes and interactions were only going to be censored on PlayStation consoles. Furthermore, the PC and Xbox versions of Martha is Dead remained unchanged.
Until now, we’ve only speculated as to what may have been censored in Martha is Dead. However, now that reviews are out in the open, we now know what’s been altered in the PlayStation versions of the game.
Before we go into what’s been censored, please keep in mind that there will be references of a gory and sexual nature. So, reader discretion is advised. Additionally, there will also be some spoilers from Martha is Dead below (thanks Eurogamer).
So, what’s been censored in Martha is Dead?
- You may have seen in some previews of a face peeling scene making the internet rounds. That scene on PlayStation is no longer interactive. Though it can still be viewed in the game.
- A scene in which a character named Giulia cuts open Martha’s womb is also no longer interactive.
- The player can now choose to opt out of seeing the censored scenes while playing.
- Mentions of masturbation have been completely removed from The Church chapter. This scene has had related voice over and text removed.
- A disclaimer at the beginning of the game has now been edited to be clearer on the content.
- The Safe in Our World message which used to appear at the end of the game containing a link for support now also appears during the disclaimer at the beginning of the game.
