It looks like actor Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner could be in some serious trouble following claims made by his ex-wife.
Known for his role as Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Renner’s position in the world’s highest-grossing franchise could be jeopardy if the latest reports are to be believed.

Renner and Sonni Pacheco hit the headlines when she accused the Marvel star of ‘trying to kill her’. The pair are currently heading to court to battle for custody of their 6-year-old daughter, and safe to say, things have gotten a little ugly.
With Renner being a hot topic at the moment, industry insider Daniel Richtman claims Disney is looking at recasting the character. Posting on Twitter, Richtman simply wrote, “Just heard something. Heard Marvel are considering some options just in case they’ll decide not to use Renner for the Hawkeye show.”

In case anyone doesn’t know, Renner is supposed to be leading Disney+’s upcoming Hawkeye. When Kevin Feige announced his impressive slate of MCU movies and shows for Phase 4, Hawkeye was a major announcement for the streaming service.
For as long as I can remember, Renner has been championing himself for a Hawkeye series, and he’s finally got his wish. If (emphasis on the IF) Disney decides to show Renner the door, it’s likely they’d write his character out.

It’s already confirmed that the fan-favourite character of Kate Bishop will be part of the series. Bishop is well-known in the comics and takes on the mantle as the second Hawkeye. It would be relatively easy to make Bishop the focus of Hawkeye, but there’s sure to be some serious backlash if Renner gets the boot.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens with Renner, but if the courts decide in Pacheco’s favour, it could be bad news for the Hollywood hunk.
