The upcoming Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers has divided gamers, receiving criticism for its character design and focus on long-term playability over day one focus. The latest news on the game might further turn people away from the title, as it has been announced that the core single player campaign is actually surprisingly short.
In an interview with ComicBook, Crystal Dynamics Senior Brand Director Rich Briggs said that the game as it’ll stand on release can be completed in just “10 or 12 hours,” though that’ll rise if you want to explore the whole world of the game.

Briggs said: “I think it’ll depend on exactly how deep you want to go into it. So if you think about previous Crystal games, you know that if you want to be playing your way through the core story, it’s going to be in that area, 10 to 12 hours.
“But if you want to see everything there is, and do all the side missions and everything else, you’re generally looking at 30 plus hours in the Tomb Raider games.”

He added: “We’re not putting exact numbers on it just yet, but you can expect something comparable to what we’ve done in the past with that regard. And then, of course, you have the extended narrative and the extended game plan, more heroes post-launch.”
Marvel’s Avengers’ content roadmap for the future includes extra DLC and new additions to keep people playing for years to come.

Although lots of players are keen to see just how Square Enix and Crystal Dynamic will keep the goods coming, others are disappointed that the game won’t be more like the narrative-focused PlayStation 4 classic, Marvel’s Spider-Man.
Just in case you were interested, How Long To Beat has Marvel’s Spider-Man at just a few hours’ longer than Avengers, at 16.5 hours for the main story.
