Marvel Studios has announced that the upcoming Disney Plus show Loki premiere two days earlier than initially planned [via Polygon]. Please note the following article contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War.
Tom Hiddleston’s next outing as Loki was originally scheduled to premiere on the 11th of June. However, the date has been shifted from a Friday to a Wednesday, meaning the show will now launch on the 9th June.
The change of premiere date was announced by Hiddleston himself, who proclaimed that “Wednesdays are the new Fridays”. Check out the announcement video below!
If you’re familiar with the MCU, then you’ll already be aware of Loki and the anti-hero’s shenanigans. You’ll also likely be aware that the character died in Avengers: Infinity War before managing to subvert his death thanks to some complicated time travel and overlapping timelines.
As a result, Loki is now set to live on in his own TV series, which is sure to be a bag of tricks.
Accompanying Loki on his next misadventure is the likes of Owen Wilson, who is set to play a bureaucrat from the “Time Variance Authority” named Mobius M. Mobius.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant are also starring in the new Marvel series, with characters roles yet to be confirmed.
2021 is going to be a busy year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From the upcoming Black Widow movie and Spiderman: No Way Home to TV shows like Miss Marvel and Hawkeye, there’s heaps of superhero content on the way. While the MCU’s Phase 4 is sure to be different from anything we’ve seen before, the result will hopefully be a brand new team of Avengers and a whole range of new interweaving stories.
Loki is set to premiere on the 9th June 2021 on Disney Plus. Can’t wait till then? Then now is the perfect them to catch up with the likes of Wandavision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
