For some, the wait will have felt like lightyears, but fans could soon be tearing into BioWare’s Mass Effect series once again (if retail listings for the release date of the Legendary Edition are to be believed).
EA has stated that its upcoming Mass Effect: Legendary Edition would launch at some point in 2021. However, Twitter user Idlesloth recently discovered retail listings at Shopitree and GSShop which could point to a more specific date.
As noted by VGC, both listings allude to the collection being released as soon as March 12th!
This news comes after the game’s alleged October 2020 release was pushed back to 2021. It’s believed that the delay was due to difficulty bringing the original Mass Effect game up to the same standards as its sequels.
The long-awaited remaster was first unveiled in November last year. BioWare stated that the project would not be a remake and would instead focus on modernising the experience of the trilogy in their original form.
All three games are set to include all originally available DLC, but that’s not all. The collection will get a graphical overhaul, and will offer the ability to play at 4K ultra HD resolution. Anyone who hasn’t played the trilogy since its original release is sure to be in a for a new-gen treat!
BioWare also announced that its next Mass Effect game is currently in the works, with a report by Kotaku claiming that the project is in “very early” stages of development.
The untitled Mass Effect game is also reportedly being crafted by BioWare veterans. The likes of Dusty Everman and Parish Ley are confirmed to have returned to the team. This is sure to instil confidence in fans who perhaps felt less enthusiastic about later entries into the series, such as Mass Effect: Andromeda.
While the listings for the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition might be an error, it seems like fans won’t have to wait much longer before romancing the stars once again!
