Metal Gear Solid Movie Director Wants To Make Animated Series

In case you forgot, a Metal Gear Solid movie is in the works, and it looks like the project’s director has even higher hopes than that for the franchise as a whole.

Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts will be spearheading the movie, but he also recently confessed that he’d love to work on an Metal Gear animated series.

Appearing on Gary Whitta’s Animal Talking show, Vogt-Roberts even admitted who he’d place in the role of Snake – David Hayter, the original voice of Snake from the early days of the series.

Whether or not an animated MGS is viable remains to be seen, but I’d love to see that take off!

Speaking of, the MGS movie is still struggling to get made according to Vogt-Roberts, who’s now been working on the project for six whole years. Vogt-Roberts, whose previous directorial work includes Kong: Skull Island, has been pretty tight-lipped on the matter of the MGS movie, offering up only the smallest of updates here and there.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts took to Twitter with an update on the film late last year, confirming that things are still happening behinds the scenes. At the time, a new draft had just been turned in. He tweeted: “I’m sorry can’t update you on the MGS film more regularly… but:

“-We just turned in a new draft. It’s full Kojima-quirk and full Military surrealism. I won’t say more

“-I’m hoping to meet a specific actor very soon ? -Let’s make this movie.”

I wonder who that “specific actor” might have been…?

2020 has seen a lot of delays due to the global coronavirus pandemic, though it’s not all too clear if this is one of the reasons for MGS’s struggles. Hopefully we’ll be hearing more on the Metal Gear Solid movie sooner rather than later.
