Microsoft is launching a ‘Family Plan’ for Xbox Game pass later this year, according to a recent report. Would you like to see this?
The reports are courtesy of Jez Corden of Windows Central. Corden claims to have been informed by “trusted sources familiar with Microsoft’s efforts” that the new subscription tier will arrive this year.

Apparently, this new Family Plan tier will support up to five family accounts on each console. Members of the Family Plan will have access to the entire Xbox Game Pass library. It is claimed that this new tier has been in Microsoft’s plans for quite some time.
However, a reason why it hasn’t happened yet is due to issues related to royalty distribution and third-party licences. That being said, Corden claims that once these issues have been resolved, the new Family Plan tier might be released sooner, rather than later.
The Family Plan could be a cheaper alternative
At this time, the price for the Family Plan was not detailed. However, this new plan is said to be “far cheaper” than having to pay for five individual subscriptions.
Furthermore, the main account holder will be in charge of the Family Plan tier. It’s said that Microsoft will be using the same method as its existing Family Account System implemented in Office 365.

No other details were revealed for the Family Plan, such as whether it will be available for standard Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate. While we must take all rumours with a pinch of salt, hopefully, we’ll find out the official details in the near future.
