Minecraft is a game that needs no introduction. From its humble beginnings to becoming one of the most-played games in the universe, it’s quite literally one of the best titles that’s ever been made.
In the last few months Minecraft has seen a huge boost in players, with Minecraft Let’s Plays once again regularly making their way into YouTube’s Trending Gaming videos. So just how many people are playing Minecraft?

Well, according to Mojang studio head, Helen Chiang, it’s an eye-watering figure sitting at just over 112 million players per month [via Business Insider].
Of course that figure might not be too shocking for veteran Minecraft players. YouTuber PewDiePie is regularly seeing a few million views on each of his Let’s Play videos on Minecraft, with his first episode sitting at 32 million views in just two months.
Pewds’ success has prompted more YouTubers than ever to return to the Minecraft servers, which again has led to a surge in the number of players.
Let’s also not forget the recent changes made to the game, which celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this summer. With more to do than ever before it couldn’t be a better time to join the world of Minecraft.
If you’re looking for a way to make your Minecraft game a little more punishing then RLCraft might be the mod for you. Described as one of the most gruelling and unforgiving ways to amp up your game, this definitely isn’t a mod for the fainthearted.
RLCraft, which you can check out here, is described by the creator as “something pretty ridiculous” thanks to just how darn hard it is.
If you think this is probably going to be a walk in the park, you might want to think again. The mod’s creator warns: “Bottom line is, this ain’t your dad’s Minecraft, and you’re going to die…a lot.
“Just be prepared for that. This tends to happen whenever I make mods for any game for some reason…it usually ends up being unfairly difficult.”
Are you up for the challenge?
