Minecraft’s Next Big Update Includes Little Frog Friends

Minecraft is releasing the Wild Update in 2022 – with new blocks, animals and a whole new biome.

The Wild Update will include the Deep Dark biome, which was originally slated to come out with the Caves and Cliffs update. Parts of the Caves and Cliffs update have been delayed – so it’s good to know that the new biome will be out with the Wild Update.

The Deep Dark biome will be deep underneath the current map, below the bedrock layer. If you travel down to it you will discover an ancient, abandoned civilisation. Watch out for the Wardens – eyeless creatures who will respond to vibrations.

Other fun things you can expect in the Wild Update include the addition of frogs! Always a fan of anything froggy. There will also be tadpoles, which will develop into frogs in the right biome. Frogs will eat fireflies. There will also be mangrove trees added to swamp biomes in the 1.9 update.

Players can turn these trees into mangrove wood – a slightly paler looking material than jungle wood. You will also be able to mine mud blocks in the swamp biome. You can turn these into mud bricks. Minecraft have put the full update on YouTube here:

Finally, Mojang are going to bring together all the PC Minecraft offerings into one launcher. No more details on this yet – and no official release date for the 1.9 Wild update. Watch this space!
