A livestream for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak revealed more monsters, new companions, and more.
Yesterday (May 10) Capcom held a digital livestream event showing off the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak DLC. It did of course reveal some monsters, as what would Monster Hunter DLC be without them.
First up is the return of the Flying Wyvern Seregios, a monster “known for its high-flying manoeuvres and incredibly sharp Bladescales coating its body.” Hunters should be careful with this one, as when Seregios sheds its scales, there’s a chance they could receive the bleed status.
There will be a couple of new subspecies of monsters introduced in the DLC too. The Aurora Somnacanth is one of these monsters, which “releases a constant chilling mist that threatens to freeze anything that gets too close.” On the other end of things, there’s also now the Magma Almudron, which can “augment its attacks with molten stone to overwhelm any would-be hunters.“

One of the biggest additions as part of this DLC is the brand new Switch Skill Swap ability. This new ability lets hunters assign Switch Skills to two different loadouts that can be changed at any time. And there’s also the new option to perform a Swap Evade in any direction to get out of harm’s way.
On top of all this, Sunbreak is adding new follower quests. These let players head out on single player hunts with their favourite story characters. “Each Follower has their own specialisation, and will even assist players by recovering their health, placing traps, and even riding monsters to turn the tide of battle.” Players will also be able to earn exclusive rewards for completing follower quests.
