If you’re a fan of everyone’s favourite blue hedgehog then you might want to clear your schedule for 2021, as it’s being reported that multiple new Sonic games are on the way.

As always with rumours and leaks, take the news with a grain of salt until confirmed!

The news comes from Sonic fansite Tails’ Channel [via GamesRadar]. Tails’ Channel noted a Sonic ad in the summer issue of  Licensing Source Book Europe, which hints towards 2021 being a massive year both for Sonic merch and Sonic games.

According to the listing, next year will bless us with a ton of new Sonic merchandise, which is probably to be expected considering 2021 marks the hedgehog’s 30th anniversary.

Perhaps more interesting than the new merchandise is the mention of “new games” and “digital content,” suggesting that SEGA might be going as all-out with Sonic’s anniversary as Nintendo currently is with Mario’s.

The listing reads: “A year of celebration – new games, digital content, events, major announcements, and a tailored licensing program.”

Sonic’s last big birthday bonanza came in 2016, where SEGA celebrated Sonic’s 25th with the release of both Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces. It seems likely that the company is set to do something similar with its releases again this time around, especially seeing as Nintendo has gone all-out in celebrating Mario’s 35th this year.

Although we don’t know what we can expect from Sonic’s 2021 festivities, here’s hoping we get some sort of Sonic Adventures remake or remaster. I for one definitely miss my Chao garden…
